Our StoryRadio Artifact is an independent record label, live performance venue, and radio station in Cincinnati, Ohio. Hundreds of live albums, selected from thousands of shows, recorded in the best-sounding intimate studio in the region, right inside the Urban Artifact taproom.
HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
What started as pirate radio born in response to the loss of the last local FM station to support and promote local and independent music, has grown into a media platform to carry out the same purpose. We partnered with our local public radio station 91.7FM WVXU to bring independent music and programming back to the air waves, and turned the venue space at Urban Artifact into a recording and broadcast studio with an intimate space for an audience to experience performances unlike anywhere else.
THE RADIO ARTIFACT LIVE STUDIO
Designed by acoustic architect Scott Hand through Trilobite Design and built by dedicated engineers, this is the best-sounding small room in the region. Small enough that the audience sits inside the performance, tuned well enough that the recording is release-ready. It's where our catalog comes from, and the best place in the city to catch a live show.
